In a show of solidarity, Qatar‘s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Lolwah Al-Khater, has reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting Lebanon amid the ongoing Hezbollah-Israeli conflict. During her visit to Lebanon, she emphasized Arab unity in condemning Israeli attacks.
Meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Tuesday, Al-Khater highlighted Qatar’s role in addressing the humanitarian crisis affecting over 1.2 million displaced individuals in Lebanon. The statement from the Lebanese Council of Ministers underlined Qatar’s efforts to support the nation during this turbulent period.
Al-Khater announced the launch of an airbridge from Doha to Beirut, with plans for 10 Qatari aircraft to deliver essential medical supplies, shelter materials, and food throughout October. This initiative aims to alleviate the pressing humanitarian needs resulting from the recent escalation in violence.
Since September 23, Israel has intensified its air campaign against Lebanon, marking a significant escalation in hostilities with Hezbollah. The ongoing conflict has led to substantial casualties, displacing hundreds of thousands of people across the country. According to Lebanese authorities, the death toll has surpassed 2,100, with over 10,000 individuals injured.
Qatar’s support comes at a critical time as Lebanon grapples with the consequences of the conflict, and the nation looks to the international community for assistance in addressing the growing humanitarian crisis.
