The country is set to transform its tourism and entertainment landscape with the launch of the Simaisma Project, which aims to create a new cultural landmark in the Middle East.
Spanning over eight million square metres along seven kilometres of pristine beachfront land, the Simaisma Project will feature a major theme park, luxury resorts, retail and dining spaces, an 18-hole golf course, residential villas, a yacht club and a marina. This expansive development is poised to set new standards for regional tourism, offering a unique blend of leisure, culture and luxury.
Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Qatar’s municipality minister, highlighted the project’s alignment with Qatar’s national Vision 2030. He emphasised the country’s commitment to building a prosperous and stable future across economic, social and environmental domains. “We are thrilled to contribute to the growth of the tourism and entertainment sector by spearheading innovative projects that meet the rising demand in this crucial industry,” Al Attiyah stated.
Qatari Diar CEO Ali bin Mohammed Al Ali underscored the meticulous planning and strategic vision behind the Simaisma Project. He noted that the project is designed to establish new regional tourism benchmarks and write a remarkable chapter in Qatar’s ongoing success story. The development is expected to significantly enhance the country’s appeal as a top-tier destination for tourists and investors.
Investment opportunities are a vital component of the Simaisma Project. The government of Qatar has announced that more than 16 plots are available for private-sector development. These plots include spaces for luxury resorts, a theme park, retail outlets and other amenities. This initiative is part of Qatar’s broader strategy to diversify its economy, bolster the private sector and attract foreign investment.
At the heart of the Simaisma Project is the planned theme park, which will occupy 650,000sq m, making it larger than the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Qatari Diar is negotiating with several international park operators to manage this flagship attraction. The theme park will serve as a major draw for visitors, enhancing Qatar’s profile on the global tourism map.
