Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) has ordered twenty more B777-9s from Boeing (BOE, Washington National). Announced during the 2024 Farnborough Air Show, the order was finalised earlier this year and listed as unidentified on Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website.
Until this announcement, the carrier had forty passenger B777-9s on order along with thirty-four B777-8Fs. No delivery dates for this latest commitment were revealed.
Qatar Airways is a prolific B777 operator with fifty-seven B777-300(ER)s, seven B777-200(LR)s, and twenty-eight B777-8Fs in service, ch-aviation fleets data shows. In terms of widebodies, it also operates thirty B787-8s and eighteen B787-9s (with 12 more due) alongside eight A330-200s, eleven A330-300s, twenty-four A350-1000s (with 18 more due from Airbus), thirty-four A350-900s, and ten A380-800s.
