Qatar Airways unveiled an upgraded version of QSuite, its business-class product, at the Farnborough Airshow on Monday.
“We’re happy and sad at the same time,” said CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer. “Happy to know that something we developed years ago is still the benchmark in our industry, and sad because we were expecting someone else to come and raise the benchmark.”
“However, our team decided to take matters in their own hands,” he added. “They have decided to come and raise the benchmark once again.”
The Doha-based carrier won Skytrax’s best airline and best business class awards in June. QSuite Next Gen aims to build on that success with wider suites and a new face-to-face seating configuration.
Qatar Airway’s unveiling of its new business class was a hotly anticipated event at the Farnborough Airshow.
At 58.6 inches tall, the sliding-door suites are 2 inches higher for increased privacy.
There is a new face-to-face seating configuration for window seats.
It means that you can sit opposite a friend or loved one while also enjoying a view of the skies.
… Or the articulating 22-inch, 4k OLED screen can be repositioned as a privacy divider.
The suites have two touchscreen control panels that control the seat position and ambient mood lighting.
Plus a wireless charging dock, an electrical outlet, a USB-A port, and a USB-C port.
The QSuite Next Gen also features the quad for the center of the cabin.
The curved black tables looked sleeker than the current QSuite.
With the upgrade, the double bed is more spacious, as each bed is four-and-a-half inches wider and one inch longer.
And each seat is two inches wider.
The bi-fold dining table pops out from the center.
