As excitement builds for the forthcoming projects in NEOM, Qatar Airways is set to double flights between Doha and NEOM this winter. Although a date for the increased flights hasn’t been given, it’s likely to be in the coming months that Qatar Airways will increase its weekly flights to NEOM from two to four.
Once it does, the existing flights on Thursdays and Saturdays will be joined by additional routes on Tuesdays and Sundays. The timings of the flights will also change once the frequency of flights between Doha and NEOM increases.
Currently flight QR1204 departs Doha at 3.20am, arriving at a local time of 06.10am in NEOM. Once it operates four times per week, this flight will leave Doha at 7.10am, arriving in the futuristic city at 10.25am.
Flight QR1205, currently operating on Thursday and Sundays will move from departing at 7.10am and arriving at 09.55am to departing at 11.30am, touching back down in Doha at 2pm once it’s four times per week.
Return flights start from SAR2,175.
While much of the travel to NEOM has been business travellers until now, that’s set to change this winter as the first of NEOM’s mega developments, Sindalah, prepares to welcome its first guests. The island has been designed as a luxurious escape on the Red Sea coast in northwest Saudi Arabia, complete with four hotels, a beach club, golf course and Michelin-pedigree restaurants.
Qatar Airways will also reinstate flights to Abha, the capital of the Aseer region, from January 2, 2025. Known for its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural mountain landscapes, Abha will be serviced by a bi-weekly flight.
This will bring the total destinations serviced by Qatar Airways in Saudi Arabia to 11, and means the airline will service Saudi Arabia with some 140 weekly flights.
