Purdue coach Matt Painter on challenges Northern Kentucky presented

Boilermakers coach Matt Painter said Daniel Jacobsen will undergo further scans Sunday to determine the extent of the lower right leg injury he suffered in Friday’s victory over Northern Kentucky. Initial tests Saturday confirmed the injury is to the lower leg, as opposed to the knee or ankle.
Jacobsen started Friday’s win over Northern Kentucky but lasted exactly one minute. The 7-4 center appeared to stumble over a Norse defender in the lane and immediately grabbed his lower leg. He needed assistance to walk off the court, limped to the locker room, and returned to the floor several minutes later on crutches.
Jacobsen debuted with 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in last Monday’s 90-73 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Will Berg posted seven points and seven rebounds in Jacobsen’s absence and presumbly takes his spot in the starting lineup. Freshman Raleigh Burgess and senior Caleb Furst should also play increased post minutes.
Jacobsen was a three-star, top-150 prospect in the 247Sports composite who finished his high school career at prep school Brewster Academy. Prior to joining the Boilermakers over the summer he won a gold medal with Team USA at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup.
