Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham was named the “perfect” 2025 NFL draft prospect for the Jacksonville Jaguars by Pro Football Focus.
Admittedly, from a measurables standpoint, Graham doesn’t align with what general manager Trent Baalke typically covets in the NFL draft. However, as PFF put it, his consistency and production are “unmatched.”
Graham is known more so for his ability as a run defender. According to PFF’s metrics, he led all interior defenders in run defense grade this past season, and his positive grade rate on run plays was the best in college football as well.
As a pass rusher this past season, Graham was still able to create 34 pressures and come away with five sacks as well.
For more on Graham, here is a glimpse at what Cummings said about him in his pre-draft profile:
“At 6’3″, 318 pounds, Graham defies expectations with his elite explosiveness and lateral agility at his size. And he compounds those elite physical tools with a relentless motor that never rests. Graham’s energized athleticism allows him to attack and reset, and his strength and power drive the nail further.”
The interior defensive line is certainly an area where the Jaguars could improve this offseason to help out their run defense unit.
When a defense is able to slow the run consistently, it puts the offense behind the sticks and in predictable passing situations, where the pass rush can pin its ears back and the secondary has the advantage from a coverage standpoint.
The combination of Graham, Travon Walker, and Josh Hines-Allen would form a nice trio along the Jaguars’ defensive front.
