TIPOFF NOTES
>> The Hawks are riding an eight game winning streak, just one of two teams in the PSAC that are still undefeated.
>> Nyshae’ Weaver was named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week on November 25. Weaver added PSAC West Athlete of the Week honors on December 9 after she combined for 20-24 from the field for 44 points and grabbed 29 rebounds against Shepherd and West Chester.
>> The Hawks are receiving votes in the WBCA Division II Coaches Poll and were ranked 16th in the D2CSC Media Poll. IUP sits third in the Atlantic Region behind PSAC opponents Seton Hill and Gannon.
>> The Hawks are currently averaging 73.0 PPG, 45.9 RPG, 15.3 APG, 8.8 SPG, and 3.3 BPG. IUP is shooting .471 from the field and .277 beyond the arc.
>> They hold their opponent’s average to 51.3 PPG, .315 from the field, and 14.9 turnovers per game.
>> They notched a season high of 16 steals against Shippensburg, followed by 13 against Goldey-Beacom.
>> The lead scorers for the Hawks are Nyshae’ Weaver and Shamia Strayhorn. Weaver is averaging 16.5 PPG and Strayhorn is averaging 13.3 PPG. Weaver ranks 8th in the PSAC and Strayhorn ranks 21st.
>> Grace Centrulla leads the team with 12 blocks and shoots .346 beyond the arc. Ellie Wilkerson is right behind with 12 steals and four blocks.
>> Kutztown’s Naia Pulliam has started in all 11 of their match-ups. Pulliam is leading the team in PPG (14.7), free throws (.857), and minutes (26.9/G).
>> IUP has a busy week ahead with another match-up at Ashland University on Thursday at 5:30 PM, and a game against Millersville on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
Since the opening of the KCAC in the 2011-12 season, IUP has had an outstanding home court advantage to go along with a nationally prominent basketball program.
IUP boasts a 162-28 (.851) record in home games since the venue opened, not losing more than four home games in a single season during that span. At the KCAC, the IUP women have won:

KUTZTOWN AT A GLANCE / SERIES HISTORY
Kutztown has an overall record of 4-7, and a PSAC record of 0-3. Kutztown’s four wins were against Lincoln (71-61), Goldey-Beacom (75-56), Penn State Lehigh Valley (96-20), and Wilmington (87-31). The Golden Bears are currently ranked eighth in the PSAC East. Kutztown is averaging 64.4 PPG, 37.5 RPG, and 14.1 APG. The Golden Bears have also tallied 16.5 TO/G, 9.6 SPG, and 3.6 BPG. Kutztown is averaging .375 from the field, .317 from the arc, and .699 from the field.
This will be IUP’s 26th match-up against Kutztown. The last match-up resulted in an IUP win, 61-57, extending the Crimson Hawks to a win streak of seven against the Golden Bears. IUP has scored 1,818 points against Kutztown, averaging 69.92 PPG. Their first contest was in November of 1987, and their most recent was in December of 2022.
ALL AROUND WEAVER
Junior forward Weaver currently leads the Hawks in numerous categories and sits in the top rankings in the PSAC. Weaver was also named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week on November 25th and was just named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week on December 9th.
She ranks 8th in conference scoring, averaging 16.5 PPG. She is second in rebounding, averaging 8.5/G. Weaver is shooting .667 from the field placing her at second place in the PSAC. Weaver has scored double-digits in six games this season, recording a season high of 26 points against Shepherd. She grabbed 14 defensive rebounds against Lock Haven and totaled 20 rebounds on the night.
A LOOK INTO STRAYHORN
Senior guard Shamia Strayhorn leads the team in MPG, averaging 30.9 minutes, placing her at 21st in the PSAC. Strayhorn is shooting .432 from the field, second on the team. Strayhorn has contributed 23 rebounds, 21 assists, 10 steals, and two blocks to the team.
FRESH OFF THE BENCH
IUP has utilized players off the bench throughout this season. Fifth on the team in scoring is Madison Zavasky, who is averaging 6.4 PPG, second highest average on the team. Lily Jordan is another key player off the bench, averaging 20.0 MPG. She is shooting .475 from the field and is averaging 4.0 RPG. Marin Miller has posted five blocks, 11 assists, 3.9 RPG, and she shoots .750 from the line.
