ABILENE – ACU Golf’s Preston Cooper was named WAC player of the week on Feb. 12. This is the second honor of the year, as well as the second honor that ACU has earned in the two weeks, with Gregoire Hoyeau earning it on Feb. 6.
The sophomore played a key role in ACU’s fourth-place team finish at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, held Feb. 10-11 at Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery. Cooper tallied nine birdies and an eagle over the tournament, with his second-round 6-under 65 standing as the lowest single-round score among the 81 competitors. He finished with scores of 72-65-75, finishing at 1-under 212 to claim sixth place individually.
