Prep Golf Is Officially Underway
The Mount Vernon Rams golf team had the lowest score at the South 7 Conference Preview Match to open their season. The Rams shot 326 with Centralia’s 350 good for 2nd followed by Carbondale’s 351 and Marion shot 428.
At the Mount Carmel Invitational, the host Aces won with a score of 303 followed by Olney 318, Hamilton County 320, Carmi 330, Edwards County 331, Lawrenceville 340 and then Fairfield with a 358.
On the girls side, Mt Carmel also won shooting 286 followed by Hamilton County 383, Harrisburg 394, Carmi 416 and Fairfield 440.
Harrisburg girls recently won a 3-team match shooting 188. Johnston City was 2nd with a 200 and Zeigler-Royalton didn’t have enough for a team score. Kate DeVisser and Hannah Jones both had 44’s for Harrisburg. Laura Behnke, Kailyn Harbison and Sadie Schwartz all had 50s.
