WESTBOROUGH – There are now some preliminary numbers for proposals to either renovate or rebuild the Westborough Golf Club.
During the Municipal Building Committee meeting on Thursday, Sept. 12, representatives from BFE Architects presented possible costs for the two options.
For new construction, preliminary estimates total about $7.3 million. This would include design costs, demolition of the current building, contractor’s fee, insurance and bonds.
The costs are based on using prefabricated materials.
For renovation, the preliminary estimates would total about $8.2 million.

Committee Chair Al Gordon said he was concerned about the renovation option since it could involve change orders that could delay the project and increase costs.
BFE also presented information about hiring a consultant for a possible restaurant. The consultant would compile details about design fees, seating and finding any restaurant interested in using the space.
While committee members have yet to make a final decision on the options, they did decide to add an article to this fall’s Town Meeting warrant for funds to cover hiring an owner’s project manager and design costs.
The committee will next meet on Thursday, Sept. 26. At that meeting, BFE will present a wrapup on the feasibility study, including an update on costs, floor plans, etc.
