TMZ Sports released police bodycam footage of the January arrest of former NBA point guard Rajon Rondo on Sunday.
The officer explained in the video that he pulled Rondo over in Jackson County, Indiana, because he didn’t have a license plate on the back of his car. It was also clear in the video that the officers were aware of who he was, as one of them said, “he played for a bunch of NBA teams. Not that I care, I’m just telling you.”
Rondo was arrested when police said they found a firearm, drug paraphernalia and marijuana in the car.
Rondo agreed to a plea deal in September that resulted in two of the three charges he was facing being dropped. Rondo agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of unlawful carrying of a handgun.
As TMZ noted, Rondo was sentenced to 180 days in jail, although the sentence was suspended and he will instead face probation as long as he doesn’t have any other legal issues.
Rondo entered the NBA as a first-round pick in 2006 and played for 16 seasons.
The University of Kentucky product suited up for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, LA Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers.
He was best known for his time in Boston, where he won an NBA championship and was a four-time All-Star.
