COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI — Southwest Michigan’s newest Planet Fitness opened Thursday, Feb. 20.
The 20,000-square-foot facility at 6708 East G Ave. features strength and cardio equipment, dedicated stretching and mobility space, WiFi and TVs with wireless connections to cardio equipment.
The nationwide gym and fitness club is calling it the “Kalamazoo North” location, per a press release.
It’s the third Planet Fitness to open in the Kalamazoo and Portage area, according to the release.

“We are thrilled to now be open and to offer another one of our affordable, high-quality fitness centers to the Kalamazoo/Portage community,” said Adam Willeays, CEO at Impact Fitness, a Planet Fitness franchise division.
New members can sign up for a classic membership for $1 down and $15 per month through March 13.
Black Card memberships, which include access to amenities like massage chairs and tanning beds, are also available for $1 down and $24.99 per month.
Construction on the site began in fall 2024.

Planet Partners, an LLC associated with real estate development company Treystar, purchased the 4.5-acre vacant lot for $192,750 in December 2023, per public records.
Planet Fitness has more than 90 locations in Michigan, including two others in Kalamazoo County. One is on Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo and the other is on South Westnedge Avenue in Portage.
There are several gyms on Gull Road within 2 miles of the Planet Fitness site, including Ascension Borgess Health and Fitness, Gull Road Fit Body and Strength Beyond Fitness Center.
