FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) -The holidays are creeping up, which means it is time to start the holiday shopping spree.
Local businesses throughout 21Country are participating in this year’s Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday this weekend.
Plaid Friday is happening this upcoming Black Friday to promote supporting local establishments throughout Fort Wayne and Auburn. From retail to food and beverage spots, organizers said there is something for everyone.
The Olive Twist is a local international grocery store partaking in both Auburn and Fort Wayne’s Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday events. Owner Lori Berndt said this is an opportunity for local business owners to band together while Black Friday deals for larger corporations are also in the mix to spread awareness to supporting neighbors.
12 local shops in the southwest part of Fort Wayne as well as local businesses spread throughout Auburn will have specials running and have their doors open and ready for customers both Friday and Saturday.
When shopping at The Olive Twist, Berndt said there will be tea beverages and snacks to try while you shop for their kitchen and herbal stock.
Small Business Saturday is a nationwide event where locally owned companies promote selling to customers during the weekend of Black Friday.
