PINEVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – A Pineville police officer was involved in a shooting at a shopping center in Pineville, according to officials.
Pineville Police Chief Michael Hudgins stated that they received a call for service around 3:50 p.m. at Tavern 51, a bar in Pineville off Pineville-Matthews Road.
Chief Hudgins stated that a call came from Tavern 51, stating a person allegedly had a weapon and making threats.
When officers arrived on scene there was a situation between the officer and the alleged suspect with a weapon in the parking lot.
The chief stated the officer did shoot and fire their weapon towards the suspect and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chief Hudgins also stated that the suspect was allegedly making threats inside the bar.
North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation will be investigating the shooting.
The officer was not injured.
