Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant ‘sick’ of his NBA 2K25 video game player rating

Many NBA players take their own NBA 2K video game ratings personally. Kevin Durant doesn’t like his at all for the new NBA 2K25 edition, which was released on Sept. 6.

In a video trailer for Durant’s latest Boardroom episode posted on social media Thursday, the Phoenix Suns All-Star didn’t mince his words about getting a 94 out of 100 player rating. The video is to promote his 2K25 battle against New York Jets’ All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner.

“I’m a 94? That’s crazy. Sick of that s—,” Durant said in disgust.

Durant’s ranked ninth in the game’s top 10 among 100 players. But ninth isn’t up to his standard after dropping from 96 in the previous year’s 2K24 game.

In this year’s edition, the Denver Nuggets’ reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic (97) is at the top again like last year. Durant is behind the Dallas Mavericks’ No. 2 Luka Doncic (97), Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo at third (97), Oklahoma City Thunder’s 2024 MVP runner-up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (96), Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid (96), Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry (95), Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James (95) and the 2K25 cover art player Jayson Tatum of the 2024 NBA champion Boston Celtics (95). The Lakers’ Anthony Davis (94) closes out the top 10.

Durant repeatedly stated how irked he was in disbelief about the 94.

“That’s crazy, though. I’m a 94, though? Like for real though, that’s crazy. I’ma have to get on somebody’s a– about that,” Durant said.

When he was asked who were his top-10 player rating predictions, Durant guessed Jokic, Doncic, Alexander, Antetokounmpo, Tatum, Embiid, New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson, and Durant’s teammate Devin Booker. The latter two are ranked 12th and 13th at 93. Booker’s rating fell one point from last year, whereas Brunson rose five points.

Phoenix Suns’ Bradley Beal is 52nd, holding an 85 rating, and rounds out the only three Suns’ players with Durant and Booker among the game’s top 100 players. The ratings gradually change yearly.

Durant was the league’s fifth-best scorer at 27.1 points per game in 75 games played for his first full season in Phoenix since he was traded from Brooklyn in February 2023. He earned 2024 All-NBA Second Team honors after the healthiest season he’s played since he tore his Achilles during the 2019 NBA Finals when he was on the Golden State Warriors. Durant also won his fourth gold medal in the 2024 Olympics, the most ever for Team USA men’s basketball, and became the U.S. all-time leading scorer.
