The PGA Tour heads eight hours North from Torrey Pines to Pebble Beach along the beautiful Monterey coastline for this week’s 84th edition of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The second Signature Event of the year following The Sentry in Hawaii means a $20 million purse and a tournament filled with top PGA pros including world No. 1 Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler, who makes his 2025 debut at Pebble Beach having finished T6 (tie 6th) in last year’s event.
For the second straight year the Pebble Beach Pro-Am will be played across two golf course with an invitational field of 80 players. The no-cut tournament features nearly all the top players minus 2024 two-time major champion Xander Schauffele.
The first two rounds are alternated between Pebble Beach and Spy Glass Hill, which both feature Poa annua greens and a mixture of Ryegrass/Poa fairways and rough.
Last year’s 72-hole winning score of 271 by winner Wyndham Clark (-17) finished under the 272.5 over/under score set by the leading online sportsbooks. That despite the event being shortened to 54 holes due to severe weather and Clark firing a course record 60, or 12-under par on Saturday. That gave him a 1-stroke win over Ludvig Aberg (-16) after the tournament was cut short, and a top prize of $3.6 million.
How Par 72 Pebble Beach played in 2024 and 2023: Scoring average 69.63 and 71.53.
How Par 72 Spyglass Hill played in 2024 and 2023: Scoring average 70.58 and 72.80.
Amateurs and celebrities along with pro athletes play alongside the pro golfers the first two rounds, and the PGA Tour players shoot for birdies Saturday and Sunday at Pebble Beach, which features the smallest greens on tour averaging 3,500 square feet.
Pebble Beach remains one of the world’s most iconic links courses, with winds always in play off the ocean. Nothing close in this week’s forcast to the winds and storms during last year’s event. Saturday has a 40% chance of rain . Keep that in mind as you watch and wager on the action, knowing that odds adjust during and after each round. Betting on Clark to win saw his odds go from 300/1 to start Round 3 Saturday to 2/1 odds during his final few holes leading the tournament with weather and cancelation in play and top online sportsbooks golf rules worth reviewing.
Pacific Ocean scene and setting with a total of 116 sand bunkers are in play to navigate at Pebble Beach, and nearly twice that of Spyglass Hill (62), which features four holes with water in play. Players will be rewarded with strategic course management and elite Approach play from within 150 yards is key when evaluating strokes gained stats.
Pebble Beach also yields one of lowest Greens in Regulation percentages on Tour, as the greens are among the smallest on Tour (ave. 3,500 sq. feet). So Scrambling and Around the Green are also key stats as players work on more birdie opportunities with Putting more prominant isolating stronger putters on Poa greens. Pebble Beach’s angular hole layouts forces layups on many holes off the tee, removing any advantages for longer hitters and resulting in Pebble Beach conceding the shortest average driving distance on Tour (near 275 yards with Tour ave. 290).
Weather the month leading into the tournament has had warm sunny afternoons with no rainfall, which is odd this time of year. Course should be firm and fast. Since last year’s tournament the 6th green was rebuilt at Pebble Beach, and 50+ trees were planted. December storms took out 30 trees at Spyglass including the featured

Also in the field are longshots as sponsors exemptions from The AT&T, Rickie Fowler, Harry Hall, Jordan Spieth and Gary Woodland, who won the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach with the U.S. Open returing to Pebble Beach in 2027.

Will there be a playoff? (Yes +400, No -500)

The remaining 2/3 of the field of 80 players are bigger longshots. That includes Nick Dunlap, who won as an amateur last year when he won The American Express at +40000 (400/1) odds.
Recall triple-digit longshots won each of the first four PGA tournaments of 2024 including three first time winners before Clark captured the AT&T Pebble Beach event at +7000, or 70/1 odds.
Recent champions of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am include Wyndham Clark (2024), Justin Rose (2023), Tom Hoge (2022), Daniel Berger (2021) and Nick Taylor (2020). Also, FanDuel brand ambassador Jordan Spieth won in 2017, and all six winners scored -17 to -19 under par. All are playing this week except Daniel Berger.

A real downside for Corey Conners is his propensity for poor putting on Poa greens. He ranks No. 74 in this field of 80 in putting on Poa over the last 24 rounds on such greens. That includes three events last year where he lost at least 1-stroke putting on Poa at the Travelers, Genesis AT&T Pebble Beach. Compare that to Taylor Pendrith, who ranks No. 30 in Poa putting despite a poor week on those greens at the Farmers Insurance Open last week – his only negative stat where he was among the very best in the field in Tee to Green play to finish T7. Pendrith won the AT&T Byron Nelson last year, and he got better with top-15 finishes against strong fields in a pair of FedExCup events. His solid form has continued into 2025 with top-15 finishes in the Sentry along with the Farmers. The bookmaker has matched these two Canadian players up, which they often do with International players. But Pendrith rates much better than the pk ’em odds posted, and consider too that another leading online sportsbook has Pendrish -150 over Viktor Hovland, who has fallen off but was still a favorite at 12/1 to win this event last year.
Scottie Scheffler returns from hand surgery to make his 2025 debut in December. His game can’t be too sharp, and especially his short game and feel on the greens, where he too struggles more on Poa ranking No. 40 in this field. Scottie lost more than 4-strokes putting on Poa at last year’s Genesis, and gained slightly in this event last year. Rory McIlroy at this big underdog price is very favorable having played in competition last month in the DP World Tour Dubai event finishing T4. Now making his 2025 Tour debut, he’s a better option than Scheffler, and Rory has had some success at Pebble Beach including in the U.S. Open despite last year’s poor finish in the event.
“I think he made enough money to hire a chef,” McIlroy told reporters this week about Scheffler and his own knife accident in the kitchen over Christmas.
Scheffler earned an amazing $61 million between tournament winnings and bonuses in 2024. The PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third time won seven PGA Tour titles, along with an Olympic Gold Medal.
