The New England Patriots’ Christian Gonzalez is already one of the best CBs in football, but the team might be in a position to add an intriguing running mate in the first round of next year’s draft: Will Johnson out of Michigan, who is the team’s choice in the latest SB Nation 2025 NFL mock draft.

7. New England Patriots: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

The tackle class might not be the best, so I’m gonna go best player available for New England and take the sticky cornerback Will Johnson. His physicality at the line of scrimmage make him and CB Christian Gonzalez a potentially fearsome CB unit.

Adding Johnson to a cornerback group led by Gonzalez and also featuring Marcus Jones would give New England a serious young core for the foreseeable future. And while offensive tackle is a bigger concern at the moment, building up the secondary is never a wrong move either.
