The New England Patriots announced 14 cuts on Monday afternoon as the NFL’s roster deadline nears.
The wave of previously unreported departures would include tight end Jacob Warren, center Charles Turner, offensive tackle Zuri Henry, defensive tackle Josiah Bronson, outside linebacker Christian McCarroll and cornerback Mikey Victor.
Warren, 24, had agreed to terms in Foxborough as an undrafted free agent in May. The 6-foot-6, 251-pound tight end from Tennessee spent six seasons in the SEC. Warren played in 54 games and finished his Volunteers tenure with 53 catches for 607 yards and eight touchdowns. He saw 21 snaps on offense and 10 snaps on special teams in the preseason finale against the Washington Commanders.
Turner, 23, signed with Patriots as part of the club’s undrafted class in the spring. The 6-foot-4, 303-pound offensive lineman out of Louisiana Tech began his collegiate path at tackle and finished it at center, where he served as a starter since 2022. Turner’s last preseason audition at Commanders Field spanned 36 offensive snaps on the interior.
Henry, 24, joined New England as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound bookend logged six seasons with the Miners, starting 36 of his 53 games while playing left tackle and right tackle. He played six snaps on offense and three snaps in the kicking game on Sunday night.
Bronson, 27, signed with the Patriots shortly after training camp opened in July. He spent the spring with the UFL’s Memphis Showboats. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound former Washington Huskies defensive tackle went undrafted in 2021. The previous stops include the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins for Bronson. He stands with a dozen tackles, including one for loss, through eight NFL games.
McCarroll, 24, worked out and signed with New England last week after participating in rookie minicamp with the Indianapolis Colts. The 6-foot-2, 246-pound undrafted edge defender totaled 151 tackles and 15 sacks across 47 games at Grand Valley State. He added three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and four pass deflections on the way to becoming a two-time GLIAC Defensive Lineman of the Year and a consensus All-American.
Victor, 24, landed with the Patriots as an undrafted rookie out of Alabama State in May. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound corner totaled 55 tackles, three interceptions and 21 passes defensed after stints at Ventura College and UNLV. He had a hand in a trio of tackles on Sunday, staying in for 26 snaps in the secondary.
Those processed moves bring the organization to 75 active players.
As the preseason reached the rearview, New England’s reported cuts began with long snapper Tucker Addington. They continued with tight end La’Michael Pettway and cornerback Azizi Hearn, followed by defensive tackle Sam Roberts, wide receiver Kawaan Baker and linebacker Steele Chambers. And then defensive end William Bradley-King as well as running back Deshaun Fenwick.
The NFL’s 53-man roster deadline hits Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. The formation of practice squads will follow after waivers for non-vested veterans clear Wednesday at 12 p.m. ET.
