With extreme cold and snow in the forecast, Parx and Delta Downs joined other tracks in canceling racing.
Parx canceled its Monday card, according to an X post from track announcer Jessica Paquette. The National Weather Service forecast a high temperature for the day of 25 degrees. The low Monday night was expected to be 7, with highs Tuesday and Wednesday of 18, when racing is scheduled for the Bensalem, Pa., track.
Delta Downs canceled its Wednesday card. A winter storm warning is in effect for the western Louisiana area for Tuesday. Heavy mixed precipitation is possible, with total snow
accumulations between four and six inches with locally higher amounts
possible. After a low forecast at 12 degrees Tuesday night, Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high of 33.
Oaklawn canceled its Monday card, with a high temperature of 29 degrees expected and wind chill values as low as 10.
