Local couple outbids national investors to keep Kimball Junction retail center under community ownership

PARK CITY, Utah — Local residents Jason and Stefanie Woywod have acquired Canyon Corners shopping center in Kimball Junction, a major retail hub anchored by Whole Foods Market.

Canyon Corners is home to other notable tenants such as, Spitz, Mod Pizza, Christy Sports, and several affordable housing units. The Woywods outbid national investment groups to keep the property locally owned.

“We moved here full-time almost five years ago because we wanted to be part of this community,” said Stefanie, an Emmy-winning journalist and former Las Vegas news anchor. “When this opportunity presented itself, we decided to do what it took to keep it local.”

Jason, who has a background in hospitality and commercial real estate, draws on deep industry roots. Alongside his father, who emigrated from Germany, Jason’s family owned and operated several casino and hotel properties in Nevada.

“We want to look at everything through a local lens. If there’s anyone in town looking to sell, we’d love to keep those opportunities within the community,” Jason said.

The Woywods plan to maintain a tenant mix that prioritizes local businesses.

“Business runs differently when the owners live down the street,” Stefanie said. “That’s how you build a strong community—when the people you do business with are also your neighbors.”

Their vision for Canyon Corners includes fostering relationships with current tenants and inviting locally owned businesses to fill any vacancies. “Community is everything—family, hope, and betterment for future generations,” Stefanie added.

The Woywods have embraced Park City’s culture, enjoying hiking and biking in the summer and skiing in the winter. Their son attends a local elementary school, further rooting them in the local fabric.

“Park City is home,” Stefanie said. “We’re thrilled to be here and are committed to investing in this incredible town we now call ours.”
