What went wrong for the Green Bay Packers against the Detroit Lions?
Pete Dougherty joins Dominique Yates to recap the Packers’ 24-14 loss at home to rival Lions.
The Green Bay Packers outgained the Detroit Lions in total yards by a significant margin Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately that included yards due to yellow flags.
The Packers gained 411 yards on offense, but were also penalized 10 times in an ugly 24-14 loss to the NFC North leaders. They had the game’s only turnover (a Jordan Love interception which was returned for a touchdown).
In other words, it’s hard to beat one of the best teams in the NFL when you are also defeating yourself.
It was the Lions‘ first game outdoors Sunday, but the visitors played a much cleaner game on the soaked Lambeau Field turf.
Meanwhile, the Packers made their own mess. They were plagued by poor snaps, dropped passes and far too many infractions. You can’t expect to defeat a team as talented as the Lions when you slip and slide through the game.
Here’s some social media reaction to the Packers’ sloppiness:
