IOWA CITY, Iowa (KGAN) — A man drowned Wednesday afternoon at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City after being trapped under maintenance equipment in a pond, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities received a 911 call about the incident at 1:39 p.m. from the golf course, located at 4390 Sand Rd. SE.
First responders arrived shortly afterward and found the victim fully submerged in the pond, where he had been trapped for an unknown amount of time, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Medical personnel recovered the victim from the water and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
The golf course declined to comment.
