SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – It’s estimated more than 76 million people will shop in stores. On Your Side has the scoop about those lightning deals and doorbuster sales. Plus, what should you buy on Black Friday? What can wait?
Black Friday is the best day of the year to buy a TV, but we have warned you for years to watch out for product derivatives.
Basically, knock-offs. Make sure you’re getting the features and warranty you want. If your kid is asking for a specific and popular toy, buy it on Friday so you’ll have it.
Black Friday: What time do stores open?
You don’t have to wake up before dawn to get a good deal, but maybe set your alarm if you’re eyeing a limited doorbuster sale.
“Doorbusters still exist, but they are getting few and far between,” said Samantha Gordon with Consumer Reports. “But they are out there. You want to make sure you are doing your research before you buy them. They may be a little flashy just to get you to buy them at those low prices.”
This weekend, you’ll find good deals on headphones, laptops, and kitchen products.
Amazon Lightning deals are a thumb-stopper. Consumer experts say that’s the point. But does the lightning jolt really pack a punch for savings?

“They will market something as a lightning deal, but the price is usually what it is. So they won’t change the price. They’ll make you think you got limited time to get that discount,” said Gordon.
Gordon recommends the price tracking tool Keepa.
“It shows you what the prices have been. Fairly reliable. Not 100% accurate, but it gives you a good idea of what the products have cost over time,” she said.
If you don’t knock out all your shopping this weekend, no problem. More sales will happen on December 9th. That’s Green Monday — similar to Cyber Monday.
