Doha, Qatar: Asian champions Qatar look to take a significant leap toward the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup semis as they face Oman in their second match today at Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Stadium in Sulaibikhat, Kuwait.

Qatar’s Khaleeji 26 campaign began with a 1-1 draw against the UAE on Saturday, while Oman also took home a single point from their 1-1 draw with Kuwait in the opener.

Qatari talisman Akram Afif gave Al Annabi the lead before UAE’s Yahya Al Ghassani equalised right before the halftime break.

“We have prepared in the best possible way for the match against Oman,” said Qatar coach Luis Garcia during a pre-match press conference yesterday, while Qatari midfielder Ahmed Fathy said that “Oman are tough opponents. They reached the final in the last edition, and we are expecting a difficult challenge.”
