Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama shot a blistering 8-under 63 in Thursday’s opening round to top the 2024 Olympics leaderboard going into Day 2. American and defending Olympic champ Xander Schauffele sits in good position just two shots back after carding a 6-under 65 in the first round. World No. 1 Scott Scheffler is also in striking distance at 4-under par after shooting a 67 in Round 1. Also representing Team USA is Collin Morikawa in a tie for 29th place at 1-under and Wyndham Clark, who’s tied for 56th after shooting a 4-over 75.
