PALM CITY, Fla. – The Ohio women’s golf team kicked off their spring season at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate hosted by UNC Greensboro, February 9-11 at the Hammock Creek Golf Club. The Bobcats recorded an overall score of 906 (+42), with sophomore Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio) leading the Bobcats with a tie for 16th place.
Virginia Tech captured the tournament title, followed by Little Rock (+14), East Tennessee State (+17) in third, with Elon (+19) and JAX State (+19) tied for fourth.
As a team, Ohio kicked off the first round on Sunday with a score of 305, followed by a 297 in the second round. The Bobcats concluded the tournament on Tuesday with a score of 304.
Individually, Luebbers was the standout performer for the Bobcats, posting scores of 75 and 72 in the first two rounds, and finishing Tuesday with a 73 for a total score of 220 (+4), which earned her a tie for 16th out of 101 competitors.
Sophomore, Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio) and senior Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Indiana) finished in a four-way tie for 42nd. Rodgers started with rounds of 73 and 76 on and concluded the tournament with a 77 for a total of 226 (+10). Meanwhile Longstreth shot scores of 79, 72, and 75 for an overall score of 226 (+10).
Junior, Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Arizona) was next, finishing tied for 70th. McRee opened the tournament with scores of 78 and 79, and closed out with a score of 79 for a total of 236 (+20).
Sophomore Anna Coccia (New Albany, Ohio) finished tied for 80th overall, opening the Palm City, Florida tournament with an 87, followed by a 77 in the second round and an 80 in the final round for a total of 241 (+25).
Competing as an individual for the Bobcats, freshman Saylor Wharff (Marietta, Ohio) finished in 73rd place. Wharff began the tournament with an 81 in round one, followed by an 72 and an 84 in the final two rounds, totaling 237 (+21).
The Bobcats will return to the fairway on February 21-23 at the 2025 Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational . This three-day event will be hosted by Western Michigan at the Rio Verde Country Club/White Wing Golf Course in Rio Verde, Arizona.
