Ohio State football is continuing to its search for its next defensive coordinator and an extremely interesting name keeps popping up. Matt Patricia is best remembered for his head coaching tenure with the Detroit Lions of the NFL, but the New York native has one of the most impressive resumes out their, which includes being a defensive assistant for the Philadelphia Eagles as well as multiple stops with the New England Patriots during their run of dominance.
If the Buckeyes were to land Patricia, I am sure social media would be on fire with negative comments due to his 12-39-1 record as a head coach in the NFL, but any college would be lucky to have someone of his pedigree at the helm of its defense. A Bill Belichick disciple, Patricia was an integral part of the three Super Bowls won by New England.
Fans have been waiting anxiously for the announcement of the next defensive coordinator after Jim Knowles left for the same position at Penn State and even these rumors are true, OSU maybe looking at a possible upgrade. Ryan Day already announced Brian Hartline and Keenan Bailey as his offensive and co-offensive coordinators and most were expecting a similar situation on defense with Tim Walton and Matt Guerrieri, but perhaps those expectations were premature.
