COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s Hero Kanu has entered the transfer portal.
The defensive lineman is fresh off his junior season with the Buckeyes in which he collected four tackles across 123 defensive snaps played.
Kanu red-shirted as a true freshman in 2022, though he did appear in three games. In 2023, he recorded 10 tackles, including a sack, across 11 games played.
Kanu is a product of Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.
He was a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. That signing class for the Buckeyes included four defensive linemen.
Two, Kanu and Omari Abor — who transferred to Southern Methodist ahead of the 2024 season — are currently in the transfer portal.
The other two, Kenyatta Jackson and Caden Curry, are expected to compete for starting spots in the upcoming season with Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau departing for the NFL.
