Ohio State football is adding to its defensive coaching staff
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football has hired Miguel Patrick as a defensive quality control coach, as first reported by On3.
The move was confirmed by Patrick whose updated X profile reflects the new position.
Patrick comes to Ohio State after spending the past two seasons coaching Birmingham’s defensive line. He was not retained on coach Trent Dilfer’s staff after the 2024 season.
Patrick has experience with the Buckeyes having served as a quality control coach in 2022.
The addition of Patrick comes shortly after Ohio State made another move to bolster its defensive line staff.
Last weekend, the Buckeyes hired Tony Washington Jr. as assistant defensive line coach, according to multiple reports.
He’ll work behind defensive line coach Larry Johnson — filling a void left by graduate assistant LaAllan Clark who left to serve as Texas’ outside linebackers coach.
Ohio State is entering a new era on the defensive side after winning a national title in January. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles left for Penn State after three seasons running the Buckeyes’ defense.
Matt Patricia was hired in February to serve as Day’s next defensive coordinator.
