Everything seems to be fake on the internet these days, so when we saw the below photo shared by our friend @Top100Rick on X last week, our BS meter was engaged.
Rick posted the photo of what appeared to be a note from inside the stall of a golf course bathroom, offering a fresh pair of underpants and shorts if anyone had an … accident … on the course. No, this isn’t a golf course for preschoolers. We’re talking grown men and women.
We get that nature calls, but this seemed like even a stretch for the wonderful hospitality business that is golf.
Naturally, we had to put our journalism hat on and do a little digging. Fortunately, it was pretty easy with a phone number on this bathroom stall note. We Googled it and found the number was for Sable Creek Golf Course in Hartville, Ohio. When we called, we talked to the pro shop attendant and asked him if it was real. “Yes, sir, it is.”
And has the service ever been utilized? “We’re here to help,” the man quipped.
There you have it. We’re so worried about our trajectory and dispersion sometimes, we lose control over our bowels.
We were shocked when reading the comments of Rick’s photo—riddled with folks who admitted they had run-ins with the dirty deuce on the course.
“Not me but a friend of mine on the 17th tee. Wasn’t pretty!!”
“5 days into a trip around Ireland, I changed my evening meal from fish/chips to some chicken dish. I knew there was trouble on the ride to Ballybunion. Teed off on the 4th hole/ ran to the restroom. Not fast enough. 1 in our group ran in to join me, yep he had chicken as well.”
“I may or may not have “misplaced” my Tiger Eye golf towel a few yards off a tee at Boulder Creek golf course back in the 90’s”
OK, maybe this course is onto something.
If you ever poop yourself on the golf course, you want it to be at this Ohio golf course. Sable Creek, here’s to you.
