At a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, former president Donald Trump told a story about golf legend Arnold Palmer that lasted more than ten minutes and, at the end, took a surprising turn to admiration of Palmer’s manhood.
Trump’s Saturday MAGA rally event was held in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of golfing legend and drink inventor Arnold Palmer. Just after taking the stage – to the sound of the WWE entrance music for wrestler The Undertaker — Trump launched into a very long story about Palmer.
After going on at great length about Palmer’s father and the golfer’s childhood, his talent as a golfer, the strength of his swing, the types of clubs he used, the way he competed with and showed up the rich kids that lasted for most of the ten minutes, Trump explained why the story was so long.
“You know, I’ve been here before and I’ve told the story before. Not in this kind of detail,” said Trump as the crowd was listening very quietly. “Because, you know, you have these teleprompters, if I would read it off a teleprompter, it wouldn’t be so good. Right? And it would be a lot shorter. It wouldn’t be as good. And I didn’t want to do that.”
Trump then went into belaboring how Palmer was “all man.”
“But Arnold Palmer was all man. And I say that at all due respect to women. And I love women,” he said, eliciting some boisterous crowd reaction. “But this guy, this guy. This is a guy that was all man. This man was strong and tough.”
He leaned into the them, saying “And I refuse to say it. But when he took showers with the other pros, they came out of there. They said, ‘oh my God. That’s unbelievable.’”
The audience had a big reaction, and Trump, enjoying the size of it, added, “I had to say it. I had to say it.”
Wrapping up as the story approached the full nearly 11 minutes of length, Trump closed by saying, “I had to tell you the shower part of it, because it’s, It’s true. What can I tell ya? We want to be honest. We want to be up front. It’s true.”
In another “blue” moment at the rally, Trump told the Latrobe audience that it’s time for them to tell opponent Kamala Harris, “We can’t stand you, you’re a shit vice president!”
He could not get enough of Latrobe. So, you know, I’ve been here before and I’ve told the story before. Not in this kind of detail. Because, you know, you have these teleprompters, if I would read it off a teleprompter, it wouldn’t be so good. Right? And it would be a lot shorter. It wouldn’t be as good. And I didn’t want to do that. I said, when I come here, I’m going to tell them the real story of Arnold.
But Arnold Palmer was all man. And I say that at all due respect to women. And I love women. But this guy, this guy. This is a guy that was all man. This man was strong and tough.
And I refuse to say it. But when he took showers with the other pros, they came out of there. They said, “Oh my God! That’s unbelievable!” I had to say it. I had to say it. But we have women that are highly sophisticated here. But they used to look at Arnold. They said, man.
But he was really something special. Arnold was something special. So I just want to tell you, you’re very lucky. The people that lived in Latrobe and it’s an honor for me to be here because of him. And he was a – actually he was a great man and I don’t think there would be golf to this to the extent that you have it today. It probably wouldn’t be that way without the great Arnold Palmer. So enjoy everybody.
And – And I had to tell you the shower part of it, because it’s, It’s true. What can I tell ya? We want to be honest. We want to be up front. It’s true.
