Jared Goff threw a terrible interception, and then it got worse for him.
The Detroit Lions quarterback was in pursuit on the interception return for a touchdown when he was hit hard in the head by Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu in an NFC divisional round game on Saturday night. The Commanders scored, Goff was taken to the blue medical tent to be evaluated for a concussion and even worse, it probably should have been a penalty on Washington.
Fox officiating expert Mike Pereira said that because Luvu hit Goff in the head, it should have been a 15-yard penalty, which would have negated the touchdown though Washington would have kept possession.
“This should have been called,” Pereira said.
Goff went in the medical tent but came out with his helmet on, a good sign for the Lions. Teddy Bridgewater, recently signed after coaching his high school team to a state championship in Florida, came in for Goff. And the Lions hit a big play with Goff on the sideline, with Jameson Williams scoring on a 61-yard run off a reverse.
The Lions and Commanders scored a lot of points in the first half. It seems like some of the Commanders points should have come back due to a penalty.
