Having made its first appearance at the PGA Show in years, Nike is continuing to ramp up its golf efforts as it unveils a Nike Air Max Plus Golf, paying homage to THE PLAYERS Championship. And unlike last season, the presence of the official PLAYERS logo on the insoles signals that this year’s pair is an officially licensed product.
Apart from the tournament branded insoles, the latest pair arrives with a clean color palette of cream, white and gold. Most notably. the tongues of the shoe also feature a goat emblem while the heels see a pony hair texture, serving as a nod to the original groundskeeping strategy used at TPC Sawgrass. Unbeknownst to some, over four decades ago the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass was set to open but encountered one final hurdle before welcoming its first golfers: the grounds required additional maintenance. So with a scant budget and little time to spare, the late golf course architect Pete Dye came up with a creative solution to enlist the livestock of a local farmer.
Swipe to get a closer look and expect these to launch on March 10 with an expected retail price of $215 USD. Given the official tournament branding, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see these sold in the official tournament merchandise tents either.
