In the past, candidates for job positions under the HELPS Program had to take competitive exams to qualify for the jobs.
Since its launch in April 2023 to address workforce needs statewide, the program offers job seekers opportunities to start a career with the state without taking a test — streamlining the hiring process for diverse, qualified permanent employees.
The jobs in the five boroughs range from office assistants to nurses to counselors to food service workers.
