Subsanador jumped into the top 10 of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s top Thoroughbred poll after his win in the Grade 1 California Crown on Saturday at Santa Anita.
Trained by Richard Mandella and ridden Saturday by Mike Smith, Subsanador won the California Crown by a head over National Treasure, with Newgate in third by a nose.
It was the second straight graded-stakes win for the 5-year-old son of Fortify after a victory in the Philip H. Iselin (G3), and he brought his 2024 record to 4: 2-1-0.
This week’s NTRA top Thoroughbred poll covers racing performances through Sept. 29. Voting is conducted by national media.The top Thoroughbred poll represents horses competing for horse of the year and concludes on Tuesday, Nov. 5, after the Breeders’ Cup.
