NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – As the holiday season gets underway, the North Platte Area Chamber and Development is making holiday shopping easier with a special program.
Shoppers can stop at participating businesses through December 17, to have a chance to win $5,000.
They’ll receive one ticket just for stopping by, plus an additional ticket for every $10 spent.
The winning ticket will be drawn and announced on December 18.
“This is our second year doing the Shop North Platte Holiday Program and it’s been a great year,” said Vice President of Operations Cassie Condon. “People realize what the program is and our stores have more knowledge about it.”
Condon noted that while the program is still relatively new, it builds on the success of past initiatives like the Shop Small Passport program.
“We did the Shop Small passport for five years and we wanted to do something that lasted a little bit longer,” said Condon. “We want to see more people out in the community and entice them to spend locally.”
Beyond the main prize, there’s an added incentive to keep customers engaged.
“We also want to remind customers there are 22 participating businesses that have a second chance prize,” said Condon. “ People should hang onto their tickets because they can win prizes ranging from $25 to $250.”
Lastly, at the heart of the program are the local businesses.
“Our small businesses are the heart of our community, said Condon. “So that makes us happy to see them grow and thrive during the holiday season.”
