LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) – It’s time to pull out the gym shoes!
Local fitness centers in Siouxland are opening their doors to any newcomers trying to reach their goals.
Le Mars CrossFit gym is ready!
On Wednesday morning on New Year’s Day, a dozen people showed up for the partner workout.
The gym was filled with the sound of clanging weights hitting the floor, thuds of jump ropes, and feet hitting the wooden boxes during the box jumps.
It was a high-energy atmosphere along with focus and camaraderie.
It’s the most popular time of the year for new memberships.
For some people, getting into the habit can be strenuous, but it’s best to start slow and set realistic goals.
If you break your streak one day, it’s never too late to get back up, but first, you must choose to change.
”Just show up and keep showing up. If you’re consistent, you’re going to see results. That’s the most important thing about our facility. It’s thoughtless all you gotta do is walk through the door. Our classes are all pre-programmed. You literally show up, you come out on the floor. Our trainer will walk you through everything, show you how to do everything, and show you how to do it towards your fitness ability. So It very friendly for somebody that is just starting their fitness journey,” said Lisa Tingwald, owner of CrossFit Le Mars.
CrossFit is a group workout led by a coach.
Movements in CrossFit can be scaled to each person’s own goals or abilities.
Many people looking to stay on track at this gym say it’s easier working out with other people.
”Doing it with a group of people helps you get through those hard points. It helps push you through that stuff, or maybe on your own. You’re like, ‘I want to quit or I want to be done, and I don’t want to finish,’ but we see the person next to you keep going. If you see your partner keep going if it’s a partner workout, it makes you strive to keep moving,” said Bryce Tingwald who had just finished the partner workout on New Year’s Day.
Now until January 11th, CrossFit Le Mars is offering free classes to non-members to try it out to see if this can help accomplish your New Year’s goals.
