Purdue basketball will try win yet another holiday week tournament when it plays Ole Miss in the Rady Children’s Invitational in San Diego.
The Boilermakers (6-1) beat N.C. State 71-61 in a Thanksgiving opener as Trey Kaufman-Renn and Cam Heide led the way. Purdue’s smaller lineup has brought more assured ball handling while not comprising its rebounding ability, at least so far.
Mississippi (6-0) beat Brigham Young in overtime in Thursday’s second game behind Jaylen Murray’s 26 points, with 16 from Dre Davis, a former Lawrence Central High School star. The Rebels make a living taking care of the ball (8.2 turnovers per game, fewest in the nation) while making opponents turn it over (17.6, 8th most).
