Nick Kyrgios makes feelings clear after Emma Raducanu revealed accidental doping concerns at Australian Open
Nick Kyrgios has approved of Emma Raducanu’s decision not to use an anti-septic spray to treat bites on her leg after the tennis star revealed she feared putting herself at risk of accidentally doping.
Raducanu, speaking on Friday, stated that she had suffered bites from what she thinks were ants or mosquitos.
It caused the 22-year-old discomfort and she was recommended some anti-septic cream.
However, with Jannik Sinner still potentially facing a ban for doping for using cream, despite protesting his innocence, Raducanu opted against risking it.

“All of us are probably quite sensitive to what we take on board, what we use,” she said.
“Yesterday, for example, I got really badly bitten by I don’t know what, ants or mosquitos or something and I’m allergic I guess.
“So they flared up and swelled up a lot. Someone was giving me this anti-septic spray, you know natural to try and ease the bites but I was just…I didn’t want to take it you know?

Sinner was previously cleared of doping last year and he continues to deny any wrongdoing, with the Italian stating that he ‘hasn’t done anything wrong’.
However, he could yet face a one or two-year ban with the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) appealing to the Court of Arbitration for stricter action to be taken.
Raducanu continued: “It’s obviously a concern on our mind but we’re all in the same boat and I think it’s just how we manage as best as we can, the controllables and if something out of our control happens then it’s going to be a bit of a struggle to try and prove.”

The tennis sensation, who won the US Open against all the odds back in 2021, has suffered with injuries in recent years.
Despite her young age, some have already dismissed the 22-year-old as past her best.
But Raducanu is feeling good as the start of the Australian Open nears, with the Briton eager to shine in the first major of the year.

“I’ve been feeling good. I think the last 10 days I’ve had a positive block of training,” she said on Friday.
“Coming back on the court, adapting to the conditions here has been good for me.
“Two weeks ago I’d say I had to pull out of Auckland because I just wasn’t ready. I had a bit of a niggle that happened pretty randomly. I couldn’t prevent it. Now I feel good and I feel ready to give it my best here.”
