The Houston Texans have picked up right where they left off last season, as they currently sit in first place in the AFC South at 4-1. CJ Stroud has looked like himself, although he will be without his favorite target, Nico Collins, in this one. Houston placed Collins on IR with a hamstring injury.

Do not fear. Houston still has a plethora of weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Stefon Diggs should slide in nicely as the number one receiver, a spot he has been accustomed to throughout his career. Tank Dell has yet to get going in 2024 but should see a larger target share in this one. Running back Joe Mixon’s status remains in question after suffering an ankle injury in Week 2.

The Texans will face one of the worst teams in the league in the New England Patriots, who will look a bit different on Sunday. Rookie Drake Maye will make his first career start. It will be interesting to see how Maye looks behind an extremely shaky and inconsistent offensive line.

Maye showed some promise in the preseason but was deemed not ready to be the starting quarterback when the season started. It’s clear the offense has struggled with Jacoby Brissett at the helm, but New England’s lack of offensive weapons is staggering.

Facing the Texan’s defense in your first career start is no easy task. Not to mention, Maye will have to keep up with CJ Stroud’s prolific offense. The Texans roll here.

Contrarian Selection: Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a tough loss on Sunday Night Football in Week 5. Now, all of a sudden, media talking heads are calling for Russell Wilson to be inserted as the starting quarterback. Clearly, these people haven’t watched Russ play football over the last three seasons. Simply, he’s been downright terrible. At the same time, I am no Justin Fields superfan, but he definitely gives this team their best chance of winning.

Fields has looked okay this season. It’s clear he’s improved as a passer, but he still provides quite a few head-scratching turnovers.

On the other hand, Vegas is still a disaster. Antonio Pierce has yet to name a starting quarterback for Week 6. We also have the whole Davante Adams situation is looming over his franchise. He won’t play for the second straight week. To add injury to insult, Christian Wilkins is set to have foot surgery and will be out indefinitely. A major blow to the defense.

Pittsburgh dominates in this one and gets back to their winning ways!
