Last NFL offseason saw the continued expansion of the popular Hard Knocks series with Hard Knocks: Offseason, which followed the New York Giants. Based on reports, Season 2 is far from guaranteed in 2025.

Tom Rock, who covers the Giants for Newsday, shared on X that while nothing has been decided, Hard Knocks: Offseason‘s future may be in jeopardy due to a lack of interest from teams.

“This isn’t a definitive report but in talking to league and media folks this past week it sounds like no team wants anything to do with an ‘Offseason Hard Knocks’ this summer and it may be a one-and-done,” Rock said, before joking “Hard to imagine why.”

This doesn’t exactly come out of left field.

For anyone unfamiliar or who might have forgotten, Season 1 could best be described as a disaster for the New York Giants.

Arguably the most famous (or for the Giants and their fans, infamous) moment came when team owner John Mara said that he would “have a tough time sleeping” if Saquon Barkley went to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Barkley, of course, did go to the Eagles, leaving the Giants in free agency. He ended up having one of the greatest seasons a running back has ever had while helping the Eagles win a Super Bowl championship. Mara’s comments have been oft-referenced, including by Barkley himself in a not-so-subtle commercial.

The 2024 season was also a calamity for the Giants. New York went 3-14. That put Big Blue in last place in the NFC East and tied (with the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns) for the worst record in the NFL.

That said, there were questions about the series’ long-term viability before the 2024 NFL season started. In August, Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles suggested that it would be difficult to find another team interested in being the subject. That said, NFL Films VP Keith Cossrow said that he hopes there’s another season.

Finding a team willing to participate might be easier said than done. But if that can happen, there might still be hope for a Season 2.
