In light of news breaking that New England Patriots captain Jabrill Peppers had been arrested over the weekend and is facing several charges, the NFL decided to release a statement on the matter. It basically echoes what the team itself said about the alleged incident earlier on Monday.
“We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club. We have no further comment at this time,” the statement reads.
According to Braintree police, Peppers was arrested early on Saturday morning. He was expected to be charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of cocaine.
Peppers was ruled out for the Patriots’ game against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, after informing the team of his arrest; he also was listed as questionable due to a shoulder injury. His status for New England’s upcoming game against the Houston Texans remains in question.
