The Minnesota Vikings (7-2) have won back-to-back games entering a Week 11 road trip to Nashville to face the Tennessee Titans (2-7).
The Titans are struggling under first-year head coach Brian Callahan, but their defense has been among the stingiest in the NFL. Tennessee ranks tied for second in the league in opponent yards per play and 11th in opponent first downs per play.
Minnesota is a 6-point road favorite, according to BetMGM, but its offense hasn’t looked right since the Rams game on Thursday Night Football in Week 8. The Vikings opened that game with back-to-back touchdown drives. In their 25 offensive possessions since, they have twice as many turnovers (6) as offensive touchdowns (3).
The defense has helped pick up the slack. The Vikings enter Week 11 as the NFL leaders in interceptions (15) and total takeaways (20), and they’ve allowed just 13 points to opposing offenses over the past two weeks.
Could Minnesota be on upset alert at Nissan Stadium with a big NFC North division game looming next week in Chicago? NFL experts weighed in this week with score predictions. Here’s what they’re saying about this week’s matchup:
Iyer: “The Vikings’ defense and special teams saved them in Jacksonville on an off day for the offense despite multiple red-zone trips. Tennessee can also be a tricky AFC South trip, but Minnesota should feel confident its pass defense can cause a lot of issues for Will Levis with Brian Flores’ aggressive scheming. Sam Darnold should play better, given he might be auditioning to replace Levis as the Titans’ QB in 2025.”
Bender: “The Vikings lead the NFL with 15 interceptions, and Sam Darnold has thrown five INTs in his past two games. The Titans are 31st in the NFL with a -11 turnover ratio. Which team can keep it clean? Justin Jefferson, who hasn’t scored a TD in three games, breaks that streak, and the Vikings improve to 4-1 S/U on the road. Aaron Jones (ribs) should be good to go, too.”
Cluff: “Sam Darnold already has had 10 passes intercepted this season. He has to avoid the dumb mistakes if the Vikings want to have a chance to catch the Lions in the NFC North. The Titans provide him a great chance to do that.”
Johnson: “The bad news for the Minnesota Vikings is that quarterback Sam Darnold has seemingly fallen back to earth, becoming the mistake-prone quarterback that haunted his coaching staff. Fortunately for Minnesota, the rest of this Vikings roster is very good and the upcoming NFL schedule for this team is very friendly even with poor quarterback play. The Tennessee Titans defense might make this a relatively low-scoring game, but Brian Flores and this Vikings defense will eat Will Levis alive.”
Rolfe: “The Vikings have the edge across the board, and if Sam Darnold can just stop making as many mistakes, they should be capable of comfortably winning against this Tennessee Titans team. There’s a huge gulf in talent between these teams, and the Vikings have another opportunity to get things clicking before their schedule gets tougher down the stretch.”
Consensus: Vikings 23, Titans 13
