Erin Andrews on Super Bowl 59, and which NFL quarterbacks have impressed this season
Erin Andrews stops by to talk about all the latest in the NFL, as well as her partnership with Miebo to combat dry eyes.
Although the NFL season is over for 30 teams, many members of those squads are being brought back for one more night to finally uncover who deserved the NFL’s most prestigious honors this year. Obviously, the usual awards will be fun to watch.
Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year always lead to controversy. Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year are pretty much settled with Washington’s Jayden Daniels and Los Angeles’ Jared Verse almost surely walking away with their respective awards, but it will still be satisfying to see them get their flowers. However, the one award everyone has been talking about is MVP.
In most years, the award is pretty much agreed upon prior to the honors ceremony. That’s not the case this year. Lamar Jackson had another elite season, putting up better numbers than he did a season ago when he won the award. Josh Allen was a miracle worker for Buffalo, racking up incredible numbers despite a lackluster receiving corps. Saquon Barkley ran for over 2,000 yards. All this is to say no one should envy the people making the decision. They were given a rigged deck and no matter who they decide, there’s sure to be tons of backlash.
With that said, here are the odds for the MVP award, per DraftKings.
Given Allen’s lack of statistical prowess compared to Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow, it’s shocking to see him such a heavy favorite. Nevertheless, should he win, this will be a welcome sight for Bills fans who’ve had to endure Allen finishing top-five in voting in three of the last four seasons without having won the award.
NFL Honors will be broadcast at 9 p.m. ET on FOX and NFL Network. The red carpet show airs an hour earlier on NFL Network. The event will also be available via stream on NFL+, Fubo, Sling TV, and YouTube TV.
