The NFL announced on Thursday that the NFC wild-card round game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings will be moved to State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
The game was set to be played at SoFi Stadium, the Rams’ home field in Inglewood, Calif. But with forest fires raging across Southern California and causing devastation to wide swaths of Los Angeles, the NFL made the decision to move the game.
The decision was made in consultation with public officials, both teams, and the NFL Players Association.
The game will still be played at 6 p.m. MST on Monday night. It will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN, as was the case prior to the relocation.
The NFL announced that tickets will go on sale at 11 a.m. MST on Friday morning to Rams season ticket members and 1 p.m. MST on Friday afternoon to the general public. Tickets will be sold through Seatgeek.
This is not the first time a game has been moved to Arizona due to California wildfires. In 2003, a Monday Night Football game between the then-San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins was moved to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe. On that occasion, tickets were distributed for free.
The Rams earned the fourth seed in the NFC by winning the NFC West, at 10-7 — two games ahead of the Cardinals, who missed out on the playoffs for the third consecutive season. Despite their gaudy 14-3 record, the Vikings are the fifth seed after finishing a game behind the Detroit Lions atop the NFC North.
The game will be the last of six wild-card round games played this weekend and will confirm the field for the divisional round.
