The Las Vegas Raiders named passing-game coordinator Scott Turner the interim offensive coordinator upon firing former offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Now, Turner could land himself a college coaching gig alongside legendary NFL head coach, Bill Belichick.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Turner, who is the son of former NFL head coach Norv Turner, “has emerged as a top target to become Bill Belichick’s (offensive coordinator) at UNC.”
Turner was originally hired by Las Vegas as the passing-game coordinator in 2023. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator of the Washington Commanders from 2020-2022.
Turner began his coaching career in college, first serving as a graduate assistant at Oregon State. He was also a Pittsburgh offensive assistant from 2008-09, and then the program’s wide receivers coach in 2010. In 2017, Turner served as an offensive analyst at Michigan.

His other NFL jobs include offensive quality control coach of the Carolina Panthers (2011-12), wide receivers coach of the Cleveland Browns, and the quarterbacks coach of the Minnesota Vikings.
Since taking the reins of the Raiders’ offense, Turner hasn’t had much success overall. Las Vegas’ run game has improved a bit, but the Raiders haven’t scored more than 19 points on his watch. That said, Turner was handed a difficult task in improving a Raiders offense that has a lackluster situation at quarterback.
Turner’s hopes of retaining the Raiders’ offensive coordinator job beyond this season rest on the back of head coach Antonio Pierce, who figures to be on the hot seat after just one season as the full-time head coach thanks to an abysmal 2024 campaign for Las Vegas.
Turner would be wise to seek other employment, as we continue to believe the Raiders will cut ties with Pierce at the conclusion of the season.
