The 2025 NFL Draft class for quarterbacks doesn’t have close to the same first-round punch as 2024 when six QBs were taken in the top 12 overall picks. For now, it looks like only two will definitely go in the top 32, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward.
Although Ward might seem like the consensus top prospect at the position, Sanders still can make his case to move up boards. He also can slide to an unexpected spot well outside of the top 10. The wild card is Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, who keeps getting enough buzz to be a somewhat early surprise.
Here’s ranking and breaking down the top nine QB prospects in ’25 and projecting where they might be taken and which landing spot is the best fit for each.

Earliest: No. 1 (Titans) | Latest: No. 6 (Raiders) | Best: No. 3 (Giants)
Ward is trying to convince Tennessee to take him right at the top over Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter or Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter. Ward can give the Titans the strong arm and athletic upside they need after not seeing enough promise from Will Levis.
The Raiders also have revved up their interest in Ward as their rookie path after the Matthew Stafford trade rumors fell flat. The Giants, however, with the offensive combination of Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka, are the best early fit for Ward. They also can give him a go-to young wide receiver in Malik Nabers, plus a commitment to improve the offensive line.
Earliest: No. 1 (Titans) | Latest: No. 18 (Seahawks) | Best: No. 6 (Raiders)
The Titans, should they go QB, will do their due diligence on Sanders vs. Ward until they’re on the clock. The Seahawks don’t expect him to drop, but they will be ready to stash him for new OC Klint Kubiak with Geno Smith as a limited-term answer. Sanders’ strong pocket passing and accuracy, however, suggests he can work best with OC Chip Kelly while minority owner Tom Brady pays close attention upstairs in Las Vegas.
Earliest: No. 26 (Rams) | Latest: No. 71 (Saints) | Best: No. 42 (Jets)
The Rams might think about jumping as their “quarterback of the future” after keeping Matthew Stafford. Dart has the arm, accuracy, and mental makeup to do well under Sean McVay. The Saints, who once had a notable Ole Miss QB named Archie Manning, can also take a much later cheap shot on him, but the Jets have had the biggest eyes on the kind of successful all-around QB Dart can be under new OC Tanner Engstrand.

Earliest: No. 33 (Browns) | Latest: No. 83 (Steelers) | Best: No. 71 (Saints)
The Browns will need to think about Milroe most in the second round, as they should be intrigued by his dual-threat abilities. The Steelers also could pair him with Justin Fields to keep redefining their offense with a running QB under Arthur Smith. But he could also be the ideal developmental flier for Kellen Moore and Doug Nussmeier in New Orleans after both worked with former Alabama star Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia.
Earliest: No. 68 (Raiders) | Latest: No. 107 (Raiders) | Best: No. 94 (Browns)
The Raiders need to be put on the radar again for possibly reuniting this polarizing national championship QB with his former Buckeyes OC, Chip Kelly, in the same position in Las Vegas. But Howard would make sense staying in Ohio to operate for offensive-minded coach Kevin Stefanski and former Notre Dame QB Tommy Rees.
Earliest: No. 50 (Seahawks) | Latest: No. 109 (Jets) | Best: No. 83 (Steelers)
The Seahawks could jump on him as the successor to Smith, or he could fall to be a Jets contingency if they don’t or can’t get Dart. The Steelers still seem just right for Ewers’ arm and athleticism.
Earliest: No. 90 (Rams) | Latest: No. 114 (Cardinals) | Best: No. 98 (Dolphins)
The Rams once had an unrelated Gabriel (Roman) as their starting QB, and Dillon can be an interesting developmental type for Sean McVay. Gabriel, who also had the Lincoln Riley Oklahoma experience before playing for the Ducks, can be a fair young backup behind Kyler Murray in Arizona. But Gabriel would be best off joining a QB room with fellow Hawaiian Tua Tagovailoa with Mike McDaniel and Miami.
Earliest: No. 98 (Dolphins) | Latest: No. 137 (Seahawks) | Best: No. 112 (49ers)
There’s not much separating this group, as Howard, Gabriel, and Leonard all will be targeted for more systemic styles. What do McDaniel, Seattle’s Klint Kubiak, and San Francisco‘s Klay Kubiak have in common? They are all extensions of Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Leonard seems like he can be the perfect rising young backup to soon-to-be-paid Brock Purdy.
Earliest: No. 116 (Colts) | Latest: No. 152 (Colts) | Best: No. 134 (Giants)
McCord would be a good developmental option with upside for Shane Steichen with the jury still out on Anthony Richardson. But don’t sleep on the Giants taking two QBs, as McCord worked well in an offense run by Jeff Nixon, their former running backs coach under Daboll and Kafka in 2023.
Deebo Samuel would like to move on from his tenure with the San Francisco 49ers, but the trade market for the 29-year-old receiver doesn't appear to be lining u
