NFL analyst shares crazy stat about Steelers run game
It has become clear the Pittsburgh Steelers want to be a run-first football team. This has been the philosophy of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin for some time. So it might come as a surprise to many the stat that NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky shared on X on Monday.
According to Orlovsky, no team has been worse in yards per carry over the past six seasons. According to Orlovsky, the Steelers have averaged only 3.9 yards per carry during that stretch. This is incredibly disconcerting as head coach Mike Tomlin is far too stubborn to make any material changes to either help the run game or better still, evolve the offense to include a legitimate passing game.
The Steelers are facing a rebuild at running back this offseason, Najee Harris is set to hit free agency and it isn’t clear if he will be back. In addition, Jaylen Warren didn’t show the growth we expected in 2024 and probably isn’t ready to be the starter.
