COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – NFL hall of famer Emmitt Smith is adding a new a shopping center in Lexington to his business portfolio.
The development, from 413 solutions, Inc, will be built along Augusta Highway, a few hundred feet away from Lexington High School.
The shopping center is scheduled to open in Fall 2026, according to a news release from the developer.
The developer said Target will be the anchor store.
WIS Reporter Naomi Popa has been looking into this project and its potential impact on traffic in the area.
While the prospect of a new store is exciting for some residents, others in the Oak Pointe neighborhood, who live in the property surrounding the development, are sharing their concerns.
“It really makes me want to say, ‘Okay, maybe we need to force this a bit quicker and get out of here before it gets too crazy,’” said homeowner Karyn Howard.
